N-EMU v0.5.0 early development

Game covers and save profiles

Change a game's name and cover, and separate one game's saves into profiles. Slow motion, turbo buttons and screenshots were also added.

Timeline dates and periods were reassigned to spread out the development history. They are not the dates changes were integrated into the app. These are pre-release development records. 0.1.0–0.8.3 are numbers assigned retrospectively to stages of early development. The app used version 0.1.0 throughout that period.

Timeline date

  1. Rename games

Set the game name shown in the library. The original name remains in game information.

  2. Use your own cover images

Choose an image on your device as a game cover.

  3. Check storage use

See space used by game files, save data and temporary files separately.

  4. Separate save profiles

Keep separate save data for profiles of the same game. Start a new playthrough while preserving existing saves in another profile.

  5. Play in slow motion

Lower the game speed to play fast-moving scenes more slowly.

  6. Turbo and hold buttons

Set buttons to repeat automatically or stay held down.

  7. Save and share game screenshots

Capture a gameplay screen to save or share yourself.

  8. Confirm before quitting

Restarting or quitting asks for confirmation if you have played since the last save.

  9. Play history

Check play time and recent launches for each game.

  10. Resume after an unexpected exit

After an unexpected app exit, choose on the next launch whether to resume from the autosave.

  11. Resume with imported in-game saves

After in-game save data changes, an autosave that does not match it is not loaded immediately.

  12. Button size and opacity

Resize buttons to suit your hands and adjust opacity to see more of the game.

  13. Change the DS screen layout

Move and resize the two screens, or enlarge just one.

  14. Choose Mega Drive button counts

Choose a three- or six-button controller to suit the game.

  15. Export diagnostic files

Export a diagnostic file yourself when asking for help. The app does not send it automatically.
