N-EMU v1.9.0 update

Nintendo 3DS and a new cartridge shelf

Nintendo 3DS arrives through Azahar. A unified cartridge shelf, two sticks, text entry and updated pause and landscape layouts reshape the app.

Dates show when changes were integrated into the app and may differ from store release dates.

Integrated

  1. Nintendo 3DS and Azahar

Azahar runs Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS games. Import your own decrypted .3ds, .cci, .cxi or .cia dumps, and install or remove updates and DLC as CIA files. Android uses JIT; iOS does not.

  2. 3DS sticks and text entry

Two sticks and ZL/ZR sit clear of the touch screen. A screen reader can hold or release stick directions. Game requests for names and passwords use the device keyboard, with passwords masked.

  3. 3DS states and recovery

3DS states open only in the installation that created them, not on another device or after reinstalling. In-game saves can move between devices. After an interruption or damaged save record, retain the remaining data before choosing a save or resetting the record.

  4. One cartridge shelf

The library now uses one cartridge shelf. Hold the centre card to play, or tap it for its menu. Removing the More button gives cards and titles more room; title wrapping stays stable while browsing. In landscape, Play sits below the centred card.

  5. Shelf haptics and 3DS covers

Cards give a light pulse as they pass and a firmer pulse when they settle, with feedback on insertion and ejection too. A missing 3DS cover is filled with the game’s own Home Menu icon.

  6. Layout and speed on the first menu

Change button layout, picture size and position, and speed from the first game-menu page. The pause button is movable, the editor toolbar no longer covers shoulder buttons, and save-slot error alerts can be dismissed.

  7. Gameplay follows controller changes

Landscape gameplay gains more room with a controller. Disconnecting returns directly to touch controls without opening a menu. The 3DS touch layout puts SELECT and START beside the sticks to enlarge the picture.

  8. Scaling and touch areas

Scaling keeps alternating rows and columns even; fit-mode descriptions explain each mode and the colour-grid preview is removed. Fixed clipped portrait SELECT/START, SNES buttons under the tablet navigation area, and clipping or misaligned touch after cropping a detached DS screen.

  9. Fix 3DS module-loading stalls

Fixed brief stalls when a 3DS game loads a new program module by avoiding a full instruction-cache scan for each small memory change.

  10. Android controls and input fixes

    Android

Controls now sit above a configured controller cover, and the PSP analog stick is visible and responds to touch. Opening a menu or text prompt releases lower-screen touch input.

  11. Bind stick directions to keys

Analog-stick directions have their own keyboard bindings. Entering key settings no longer leaves input held in the game.

  12. iOS launch and memory fixes

    iOS

Games preload while the cartridge is inserted. Fixed excessive memory use when verifying large files before launch, and save or input tasks that failed to finish after a runtime error.

  13. C++ runtime licence notice

    Android

Added the licence notice for the C++ runtime bundled with the Android app.

How 3DS states survive an update

Integrating Azahar meant signing states per installation. We then separated state compatibility from the rest of the app so an app update alone would not close those states.
